Development of an biodegradable automobile anti-rust treatment

“Since obtaining our ISO 14001 certification in 2001, we wanted to develop a biodegradable product”, says Jean-Luc Saint-Onge, Executive Director of Antirouille Métropolitain. “Not only it’s a core value of the company to be green, but it’s also a way to distinguish ourselves from the concurrence.” But how develop this new product? Mr St-Onge search led him to Kemitek: “In the area of oleochemistry, it was an unmissable name”.

Kemitek has developed an anti-rust treatment that was vegetable based instead of mineral based. The vegetable oil has both good lubricity and biodegradability, which proved beneficial in reaching the objectives.  “We’ve obtained a better product at the same price. The anti-rust action was revealed to be superior and the recuperation of the oil is now easier”, noted M. Saint-Onge.

Governemental grants have absorbed 40% of the project’s costs, which certainly is pleasing to M. Saint-Onge. But over all, it’s Kemitek’s engagement that seduced him: “A complicity was established right from the start! We were not another project for them, but a mandate that they were taking to their hearts”.
